I join so many Taiwan friends in extending my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Chi Po-lin, the talented documentary filmmaker, photographer, and environmentalist. I was saddened to hear the news that he passed away in a helicopter crash on Saturday while filming the sequel to Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above. Chi will be missed and remembered for his contributions to environmental protection and his love of Taiwan. I remember his film as one of the first that I viewed getting ready for my assignment as Director to AIT, the breath-taking scenery, mesmerizing images of fields, wetlands, and Taiwan’s urban areas that not only showed the natural beauty of Taiwan, they also raised environmental questions, and won well deserved awards...km
